Animal Slavery

By: Juanita, Anja, and Maribel

In Marjorie Spiegel's essay,  she provides examples of animals' being treated brutally for humans' benefits with the egg factory example. The brutal treatment against animals is linked to the brutal treatment of human slaves; similar to animals, their emotions are not taken into account. In order to understand the point of view of the 'master', Aristotle is included in the essay, "For all tame animals there is an advantagw in being under human control, as this secures their survival." (11, Spiegel). This is a clear argument for the captivity of animals, since their need resources are provided for them. Overall, it seems, their lives are easier since they no longer have to worry about certain predators. Yet, these beliefs are used to justify how humans are the predators since they are working the chicken's past their capability by using them as a human resource of eggs.
